Kernow Kid
A Cornishman born and bred wayyyy back in the early 60’s, living in the north Cornish coastal village of St.Agnes, where my family go back 7 generations! Spending most of my time on the beach and in the sea, I learned to surf at the age of 11, and went on to get heavily involved in the sport during the 80's. I was fortunate enough to be one of the competing local surfers in the very first Pro-Am surf contest held at Fistral Beach, Newquay, in 1981. I was also lucky enough to surf with and against, some of the top surfers in the world at that time!
Roughly around the same time, I was playing in a local Jazz funk band as the Bass player/vocalist. It wasn’t long before I was keen to progress in this industry and in 1989, I had the chance to go full-time as a professional musician, as the Bass player in a resident band for a 5 star hotel in Copenhagen. From there, I have been lucky enough to travel and work in various countries around the world as a musician and have visited and worked in places such as the USA, Russia, Caribbean, UAE, Cyprus, and the Artic Circle to name a few.
In 2009, having always been fascinated with TV commercial voice overs since a kid, I embarked on a training course as a VoiceOver artist. I was fortunate enough to have been trained by a true legend in the world of voiceovers. Steve Hudson. The original voice for the classic ‘Old Spice’ TV commercial back in the 70’s ‘Old Spice....the mark of a Man!’ and in 2011 I was selected for a UK national TV advert.....the voice of a cat! Well, we all have to start somewhere!
More recently, I have been a member of one of the UK’s top Voice Over artists and mentors, Peter Baker and his 'Voiceover Masterclass' community, which has been invaluable to me in expanding my knowledge and business within the voice over industry. Peter’s experience and expertise in educating and instruction, has been a real game changer for me!
